Brooke Stephens, CTRI

Path Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Lead Instructor

Brooke has been riding since she was nine years old, and teaching is her passion! Brooke and her family opened Stars and Strides in 2023, with the mission of making therapeutic riding fun and accessible for all. A former therapeutic riding client herself, Brooke intimately understands the healing potential of therapeutic riding and devoted herself to becoming a certified instructor through Path International so that she could pass along the benefits to others. She enjoys hunter/jumper and dressage lessons and competition in her spare time, but her true love is introducing young people to the joys of therapeutic riding and spending time with horses.

Jennifer Stephens, LCSW

Jennifer has been a part of the social work field since 1989, when she graduated from Wheaton College with a BA in Sociology. Following her time at Wheaton, Jennifer attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned her Master’s in Social Work while working full time as a probation officer, counselor and family therapist. Jennifer earned her MSSW in 1994, graduating Magna Cum Laude with an emphasis in both administration and planning as well as in clinical social work. She is now double licensed as an LCSW in both Texas and North Carolina.

Jennifer has over 25 years of experience working with clients with mental health, juvenile delinquency, trauma, developmental and adoption issues. Serving as both a therapist as well as a program administrator for the Dallas County Juvenile Department and Dallas County Metrocare Services in Dallas, Texas, for 10 years, Jennifer also served as the founding director of the Dallas office of Bethany Christian Services, a Michigan based crisis pregnancy counseling, foster care and adoption agency.

Along with her husband Kevin, who serves as our Board President, Jennifer now has five beautiful adult children, one biological and four through adoption. Both through her work as well as her personal experiences, Jennifer has a real passion for developing and administering programs for young people with special challenges and disabilities.
